The Southwestern Randolph Junior Varsity Football Team Mauled by The Eastern Guilford Wildcats 41-0
Greensboro, N.C. (September 28, 2017) – The Cougars were defeated by the Wildcats 41-0 in what appeared to be a showing of dominance by Eastern Guilford. The Cougars JV football team’s record moves to 3-3 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Cougars were out-sized by the much bigger Wildcats making it difficult for them to stop them on offense. Southeast Guilford’s sophomore WR/DE #2 N. McMullen (6’5” 200 lbs.) was difficult to defend as the Wildcats QB targeted him often while in the red zone on corner routes.
The Cougars were able to get the ball moving on offense, but just was not able to get the ball in the end zone. After the first quarter, they started passing the ball a little more which opened up some of the running lanes for the Cougars. Passes out into the flats was working well for the Cougars, but the speed of the Wildcats secondary allowed them to cover the ground quickly and make the tackles. The Wildcats front four were quick and lead to multiple sacks on the Cougars. Going forward, the Cougars will make the needed adjustments necessary to grow and become better as a team.
The Cougars will face Southern Guilford 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at home.
