Asheboro (October 4, 2017) – The Southwestern Randolph’s varsity volleyball team defeated Providence Grove 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-23) in Wednesday’s matchup. This win gives the Cougars a 18-4 overall and 8-2 conference record. It also secures the number two standing in the Mid Piedmont conference.
Every win makes it a special night, but this night was even more special as this was a Dig for Pink night with proceeds going to support cancer survivors. The team celebrated this event by wearing pink uniforms and giving out pink flowers to cancer survivors whom were present at the game prior to the start of the matches.
SWR senior Kendra Davis lead the team with 15 kills, while senior Alayna Woodard and junior Cassidy Schiebel added 8 kills apiece. Davis also lead the team with 13 digs with Woodard and senior Mabe Taylor on her hills with 12 each. Freshman LeRoy Peyton lead the Cougars in assist with an amazing 20 assists. Senior Faith Lemmons added 10 and junior Addy Salisbury 7 assist. Service Aces were spread throughout the team with Woodard sending 3 across the net and Schiebel, Lemmons and senior Kendra Davis adding 2 apiece to the total.
The Cougars will return to the court on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, and will face the Blue Comets of Asheboro at home. With a win, the Cougars will be able to take over the #1 spot in the conference.
