Asheboro, N.C. (October 10, 2017) – The Cougars hit the trails again for the fourth Mid Piedmont Conference meet hosted by Asheboro High School. The girls finished 4th with an average time of 25:48 and the boys 5th with an average of 20:30.
In the girl’s competition, Southeast Guilford took the 1st spot with (28) points, Walter M. Williams (66), Southern Alamance (87), Southwestern Randolph (98) and Asheboro (107) rounded out the top-5 spots.
Junior Casey Hatley was the first Cougar to cross the finish line at 24:02.02 for 12th place. Sophomores Kassidy Driver (25:39.70) and Maggie Hall (26:19.98) were the other two Cougars to finish in the top-25. Other runners were Sophomores Lauren Resor (26:29.19) and Teagan Ray (26:33.78) and Junior Courtni Jackson (28:06.41) rounded out the top-35.
On the boy’s side, it was Southern Alamance taking the #1 spot with (39) points. Southeast Guilford (61), Asheboro (66), Walter M. Williams (95) and Southwestern Randolph (112) rounded out the top-5.
It was senior Dylan Brown (18:51.08) leading the way for the Cougars finishing in the 9th position. Senior Hudson New (19:59.11) was the next Cougar to cross the finish line and sophomore Zach Mabe (20:27.10) finished in the 25th spot to round out the top-25. Freshman’s Scott Schoenfield (21:39.03) and Christian Simpson (21:39.61) finished just outside the top-25 with Schoenfield in27th place and Simpson in 30th. Other Cougar’s runners were junior Tyler Mcleod (22:28.59), freshman Elvis Geissler (24:29.72), juniors Seth Brooks (26:08.64), Jordan Carlyle (26:48.70), Landon Smith (27:53.71), Tanner Davis (27:54.10) and seniors Cameron Cagle (28:31.61) and Colby Kenny (29:56.38).
Their next meet will be held at Hagan Stone Park at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. This is a challenging course with a considerate number of hills to climb. It is known to test the endurance and agility of the athletes.
