Greensboro, N.C. (October 17, 2017) – Southwestern Randolph cross country teams competed Wednesday in the 3A Mid Piedmont Conference Championship meet at Hagan Stone Park. The varsity boys team placed 5th overall with one earning all-conference honors. The varsity girls placed 4th overall with the junior varsity running a coed race.
The varsity boys finished with an average time of 20:08.58 in their 5k race. Dylan Brown (18:04.71) was the first Cougar to cross the finish line in 8th place, earning him all-conference honors. Next to cross was Zach Mabe (19:50.44) for a 26th place finish. The other Cougars were loosely packed together finishing in 33, 35, 36, 40, and 41st positions. Finishing 33rd was Tyler Mcleod (20:33.23), 35th Brian Miller (21:06.47), and 36th Scott Schoenfield (21:09.04) rounded out the top-5 Cougars.
The varsity girls finished with an average time of 24:20.92 in their 5k event. Casey Hatley crossed the line first for the Cougars with her teammates in tow. Hatley (23:58.14) finished in the 16th position, Maggie Hall (24:03.58) in 17th, Lauren Resor (24:21.71) in 18th, Courtni Jackson (24:23.49) in 19th, and Kassidy Driver (24:57.67) in 23rd to round out the top-5.
In the JV race, it was Elvis Geissler (22:23.99) crossing first for a 23rd place finish. Next in 26th place was Jordan Carlyle (22:46.66), in 29th Landon Smith (22:52.17), 33rd was Tanner Davis (23:34.83), and 40th place Noah Smith (23:55.31) rounded out the top-5 Cougar runners.
