Girls Varsity Volleyball · Varsity Volleyball Team Comes Up Short


ASHEBORO (September 21, 2018) – The Southwestern Randolph varsity came up short against Southern Alamance. The Cougars fell in four sets to the Patriots and are now 11-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

After dropping the first set 16-25, SWR rallied back to take the second set 25-17. Despite the Cougars best efforts, the Patriots were able to snag the third set with a score of 27-25 to put them up 2-1. That win gave the Patriots the momentum needed to take the fourth set 25-12 to secure the win over the Cougars and to hold on to the number two position in the 3-A Mid-Piedmont conference standings. SWR remains in the third spot in the conference standings.

Ashton Maness lead the team with nine kills and 12 digs. Payton Shiflet complemented Maness’ performance by adding eight kills and nine digs. Peyton LeRoy continued to lead the Cougars in assists tallying 22 assists and 14 digs to add to her stats.

Southwestern Randolph will regroup and prepare for their upcoming match against Randleman on Monday. This will be a home match so please come out and support your Lady Cougars on Monday with the action getting started at 6:15 p.m.
