Girls Varsity Tennis · Girl’s Tennis Suffers Another Loss Against Southern Alamance

ASHEBORO (September 28, 2018) – The SWR girl’s tennis team fell to Southern Alamance 8-1. They now move to 6-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

The sole winner for the Cougars was sophomore Caeleylaine Price who defeated her adversary 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles position. Sophomore Natalie King put up a fight against her opponent but was unable to prevail. After dropping the first set 6-3, King climbed her way back into the match by taking the second set after winning the tie-breaker set (7-5). She was unable to hold on as her opponent took the super tie-breaker set by a score of 10-3.

The Cougars are coming off of two very tough loses to the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the conference. Earlier this week Southwestern Randolph faced Walter M. Williams who is ranked 1stin the conference and is also undefeated on the season. This loss drops the Cougars into the 4thspot in the conference rankings.

They will have another challenge on Monday during the regular season finale as they face-off against 3rdranked Asheboro at home with game time set to start at 4:30 p.m.
